KATHUA — Family members of incarcerated Doda MLA Mehraj Malik met him in Kathua jail, reporting that he is in good health and high spirits, according to details received by The Chenab Times.
AAP spokesperson Advocate Appu Singh Slathia stated that Malik’s father, brother, and other relatives met the MLA. “Mehraj Malik is in the best spirit and is committed to his cause and to AAP. He is a proud member of AAP and has asked his supporters to continue their work,” she said.
Slathia rejected reports of party members collecting funds for Malik’s legal team. “We don’t require any funds for that, and if anyone approaches anybody for collecting funds, people shouldn’t give money,” she added. She indicated that important updates on Malik’s case would be shared in the next two to three days.
Malik, the first sitting MLA booked under the Public Safety Act in Jammu and Kashmir, was arrested by Doda police on September 8 from Dak Bungalow Doda and lodged in Kathua jail. AAP has formed a legal team led by Advocate Nirmal Kotwal to approach the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh for quashing the PSA order.
