3 LeT/TRF Militant Associates in Baramulla; Uncover Arms and Ammunition, says Police

Jammu and Kashmir Police in Baramulla district have reported a significant breakthrough with the apprehension of three individuals believed to be associated with the Lashkar-i-Toiba (LeT) outfit. The arrests were made during a joint operation involving 13 SIKHLI, 185 BN BSF, and Baramulla Police at Kalgai near Jhula foot Bridge on November 25.

The detained suspects, identified as Zameer Ahmad Khanday and Mohammad Naseem Khanday, residents of Madiyan Kamalkote, were intercepted while en route from Kamalkote towards the National Highway. A subsequent search led to the recovery of three Chinese grenades and a substantial amount of cash, totaling 2.5 lakhs, from their possession.

In response to this discovery, authorities promptly registered a First Information Report (FIR) under the relevant sections of the law at Police Station Uri. Interrogation of the arrested individuals revealed alleged connections to Manzoor Ahmad Bhatti, another resident of Madiyan Kamalkote, news agency GNS reported.

Manzoor Ahmad Bhatti was subsequently taken into custody for questioning. According to police statements, Bhatti confessed to supplying the detained individuals with the confiscated grenades and cash for the purpose of executing potential terrorist acts. Further information provided by Bhatti led to the recovery of an additional Chinese hand grenade and 2.17 lakhs in cash.
