In a momentous occasion, Mr. Akshay Labroo, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Budgam, inaugurated the first-ever cellular network connectivity at the renowned tourist destination, Doodhpathri. The much-awaited network infrastructure has been meticulously installed by JIO, marking a significant milestone for both local residents and tourists.
The inauguration ceremony witnessed the presence of several distinguished figures, including Mr. Al-Tahir Gillani, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Budgam; Mr. Javed Ahmad, Director of the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT); Mr. Shehzan Hamid, Jio Company’s UT Head; Dr. Akramullah Tak, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADDC); Ms. Nargis Fatima Tak, CEO of the District Development Authority (DDA); and Mr. Tariq Ahmad, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Khansahab.
DC Akshay Labroo, addressing the gathering, emphasized the long-standing demand for cellular connectivity at this picturesque tourist destination. He lauded this achievement, underlining its significance for the district administration and all stakeholders involved.
Labroo remarked that the new network connectivity would not only promote Doodhpathri as one of Jammu & Kashmir’s premier tourist destinations but would also create livelihood opportunities for the local population. He expressed his gratitude to Jio Company, the Tourism Department, the Forest Department, and all other supporters who expedited the installation of the twin towers at Doodhpathri.
Highlighting the commitment of the LG Administration to develop Doodhpathri and other tourist spots in Budgam, such as Yousmarg and Tosamaidaan, as tourism hubs, DC Labroo emphasized their dedication to enhancing tourist-related facilities.
The Deputy Commissioner revealed that the District Administration Budgam had invited NIFT Srinagar to provide design support for tourist shelters, selfie points, and the beautification of traditional Doks at the site. Additionally, efforts are underway to develop additional toilet blocks, a cafeteria, and parking facilities at Doodhpathri.
Last season, Doodhpathri drew approximately 800,000 tourists. This year, the number has already surged to 1.4 million visitors, a testament to the increasing appeal of this beautiful destination.
SSP Al-Tahir Gillani, also speaking at the event, emphasized the significance of resolving the long-standing network issue, stating that it would undoubtedly bolster the tourism potential of Doodhpathri.
