The pilgrimage to the Amarnath cave, located in the picturesque Himalayan region of Jammu and Kashmir, attracts pilgrims from all over the country who seek blessings from the ice stalagmite representing Lord Shiva. This year, the influx of yatries has been particularly high, making it one of the most popular yatras in the country.
Among the pilgrims who visited the holy cave on this day were 12,408 males, 4,095 females, 490 children, 192 Sadhus (holy men), and 17 Sadvis (holy women). The diverse participation in the pilgrimage reflects the inclusiveness and devotion of people from different backgrounds and age groups.
To ensure the smooth conduct of the yatra, the Integrated Command & Control Centre (ICCC) at HMT has been diligently monitoring the entire pilgrimage since 2022. The ICCC, equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including RFID integration, enables real-time monitoring and coordination among all stakeholders involved in the yatra.
Speaking about the significance of the ICCC, an official stated that its integration with RFID technology allows for effective crowd control management, traceability, traffic management, and coordination among various departments. The data analysis and simulation models incorporated within the ICCC also play a crucial role in disaster mitigation and proactive measures.
