In a devastating accident that occurred near the Changa Police Station in the Bhalessa area of Doda district, a passenger vehicle with registration number JK14C 7231 plunged into a gorge, resulting in the loss of one life and leaving several individuals injured, sources told The Chenab Times.
The ill-fated vehicle, carrying a total of six passengers, was traveling along the precarious route when the driver lost control, leading to the tragic plunge. The impact of the accident was severe, causing grave injuries to the passengers and claiming the life of one individual, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The deceased has been identified as Sonu Kumar, son of Mohan Lal and a resident of Bunicha.
Among the injured, Suman Kumar, son of Bansi Lala, a resident of Bunicha, suffered significant injuries and is currently receiving medical treatment. The driver of the vehicle, Waseem Jaffer, son of Jaffer Hussain Mir from Soti, sustained injuries as well and is undergoing medical care. Mithan Kumar, son of Mahinder Singh, Ranjeeta Devi, wife of Himat Raj, and Simple Kumar, son of Kuldeep Singh, all residents of Bunicha, were also injured in the accident and are now receiving medical attention. Kesar Singh, son of Jamit Ram from Bunicha, was fortunate to escape with minor injuries.
Local authorities and emergency services were promptly alerted to the scene, and rescue operations were launched immediately. The injured were swiftly transported to the SDH Gandoh for urgent treatment. The healthcare professionals at the hospital are working tirelessly to stabilize the condition of the injured victims and provide them with the necessary care. While three of them were referred to Government Medical College for further treatment.
