“Don’t Panic”: Tamil Nadu Governor Assures Migrants Amid Attack Rumours

Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi has come forward to reassure migrant workers in the state that they need not panic amid rumours of attacks on them. The Governor emphasized that people in Tamil Nadu are nice and friendly, urging North Indian labourers not to feel insecure. The Raj Bhavan made the statement in tweets posted in Tamil, English and Hindi on Sunday.

The statement was made in the wake of rumours of attacks on migrant workers in the state, causing apprehension and panic among them. However, Chief Minister M K Stalin assured his Bihar counterpart Nitish Kumar that all migrant labourers in the state were safe, and that the police had registered cases against two journalists of a Hindi daily for spreading rumours.

O Panneerselvam, the deposed AIADMK leader, stated that the state government was responsible for ensuring the safety of migrant workers, while also ensuring that youth from Tamil Nadu were employed in companies located within the state.
