Sunday saw religious fervour and joy as Jammu and Kashmir observed Eid-ul-Azha, popularly known as “Bakar Eid.”
Eid congregational prayers were offered in all of Jammu and Kashmir’s main mosques and shrines, with the exception of Jama Masjid in Srinagar.
At the Hazratbal shrine in Srinagar, where hundreds of men, women, and children delivered Eid Namaz at 10:30 am, the largest congregational Eid prayers were held.
As a precaution, the ancient Jamia Masjid in the heart of Srinagar and Eid Gah were closed to the Eid congregational prayers. Security personnel were stationed all throughout, and the main mosque’s gates were shut.
Members of Anjuman Auquaf approached the authorities to request permission for Eid prayers to be held at Jamia Masjid, but they were told to offer before 6:30 in the morning.
In the Chenab Valley, the timing of Eid namaz was from 7:00 am to 10:30 am. However, huge gatherings were reported in major parts of the Chenab region.
