A market inspection was performed in Thathri town by a team from the Thathri administration consisting of Tehsildar Thathri Sahil Randhawa and Naib Tehsildar Thathri Shambu Nath, along with officials from the Municipal Committee Thathri and TSO Thathri, under the supervision of SDM Thathri Athar Amin Zargar on Wednesday.
In a statement issued to The Chenab Times, an official said that the Thathri administration, taking a strong view of the complaints of the general public of Thathri regarding overcharging by shopkeepers in Thathri during the months of Ramadan and Navratri, undertook market checking and penalised the defaulters. An amount of Rs 1500 was realised from the erring shopkeepers. Besides, some domestic securities were seized by TSO Thathri from the Dhaba operators.
It is worth noting that during these holy months, people face price increases for the majority of essential commodities.
