A poetry session was organised on the occasion of “World Poetry Day” in the Department of Urdu at Government PG College, Bhaderwah. A lot of students from P.G. and U.G. participated in the event. On this occasion, the participants presented lyrics and poems by different poets. Jaffer Hussain Tabish and Asif Ataullah presented their own poems.

The chief guest at the event was Principal Bhaderwah Government Degree College Prof. Kuldeep Sharma. During his presidential address, Dr. Javed Iqbal Shah, Head of the Department of Urdu, presided over the function. In a statement issued to The Chenab Times, Dr Javed said that the way the younger generation is getting involved in different bad activities is a matter of concern for parents as well as teachers. He said that such events are very important for the younger generation to divert their attention from the wrong path. He added that in the last two years, due to COVID-19, the literary activities of the college had suffered a lot, but now everything is back on track. Those who were present at the event included Dr. Sanjay Kumar, Dr. Ajaz Ahmed, Dr. Taseer Nawaz Mir, Dr. Sanjay Bhagat, Dr. Haseeb Iqbal, Dr. Reyaz from the Arabic department, and Professor Mushtaq from the Persian department.
